Former MPS Player selected in 2010 WPS Draft
Casey Brown Drafted by the Boston Breakers in 7th Round

Waltham, 22nd January, 2010; Former MPS Premier Team player and W-League captain Casey Brown was selected in the 2010 Women’s Professional Soccer (WPS) draft held at the NSCAA convention in Philadelphia this past week.

Brown, a former Boston University defender, was selected in the 7th round of the draft by the Boston Breakers

In 2009, Brown led the W-League Renegades in minutes played and was named Player of the Year by Head Coach Darren Gallagher.  As a youth player, the defender from Natick, MA featured in the MPS Premier Team program under MPS Director of Coaching Peter Bradley.

“Casey was a standout performer for the Renegades in 2009,” said W-League Head Coach Darren Gallagher. “Her performances and attitude were a great example to all our younger female players at MPS.”

Brown is the latest in a long list of former MPS Renegades players drafted to the professional game which includes names such as Shannon Boxx, Angela Hucles, and Lisa Stoia.  Also picked in the 7th round of the 2010 draft was Brown’s 2009 teammate Jackie Santacaterina.  The midfielder was selected by the Chicago Red Stars.
