Waltham, 22nd January, 2010; Former MPS Premier Team player and W-League captain Casey Brown was selected in the 2010 Women’s Professional Soccer (WPS) draft held at the NSCAA convention in Philadelphia this past week.

Brown, a former Boston University defender, was selected in the 7^th round of the draft by the Boston Breakers

In 2009, Brown led the W-League Renegades in minutes played and was named Player of the Year by Head Coach Darren Gallagher.  As a youth player, the defender from Natick, MA featured in the MPS Premier Team program under MPS Director of Coaching Peter Bradley.

“Casey was a standout performer for the Renegades in 2009,” said W-League Head Coach Darren Gallagher. “Her performances and attitude were a great example to all our younger female players at MPS.”

Brown is the latest in a long list of former MPS Renegades players drafted to the professional game which includes names such as Shannon Boxx, Angela Hucles, and Lisa Stoia.  Also picked in the 7^th round of the 2010 draft was Brown’s 2009 teammate Jackie Santacaterina.  The midfielder was selected by the Chicago Red Stars.
